Planetside 2 on Windows 10: Fix Error 0xc000007b With Two Clicks

Have you recently installed Windows 10 and launched Planetside 2? If so, it’s possible you also ran into the error 0xc000007b when launching the game via the launchpad.

Why Does This Error Occur?

When you do a dependency check on the Planetside2.exe you will notice that it lists various system components. For some reason, Planetside 2 won’t work with the default DirectX that Microsoft includes in Windows 10 (Possibly an older version of DirectX 12).

How Do I Fix It?

The solution to fix error 0xc000007b is simple: Simply re-install DirectX. You can download DirectX 12 here. Download the Runtime installer.

If that does not work for you, you should download the Planetside 2 installer and install Planetside in a different folder e.g. C:\Planetside2-folder and then before the installation it will re-install the DirectX version that is required to launch Planetside 2 properly. This is what fixed the error 0xc000007b for me.

Still No Luck, What Else?

You can re-install the entire game. If that does not work, you can try creating a new user account on Windows and then install a fresh copy of the game. That would take some time since you need to re-download the entire game. Parts of your installation may be corrupt so you may not be able to copy the game folder but of course you can try that first and copy the game folder and only re-install core files.
